Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Monday approved a summary under which the Sindh government approved extension of Sindh Rangers special powers for another 90 days.

Presiding over a meeting on law and order here at the Chief Minister's House, the chief minister said that Sindh Rangers and police have done a wonderful job by restoring peace in the city.

"We must appreciate their struggle and sacrifices for restoring law & order in province," he said and added that their role in eradication of terrorism and targeted killings, crackdown against extortionists is commendable.

The chief secretary, Siddique Memon, presented to the CM a summary through which Home department had recommended the extension in the stay of Sindh Rangers in Sindh for another one year and grant of special powers for 90 days.

The chief minister approved the summary forthwith and directed the chief secretary to co-ordinate with the federal government for issuance of a notification at the earliest.

The meeting was also attended by IGP Sindh AD Khwaja, Home Secretary Riaz Hussain Soomro and others. The IG police briefed the chief minister on overall law and order and urged him to visit police headquarters which the chief minister accepted.

Earlier, the chief minister visited legendary cricketer Hanif Mohammad in Aga Khan Hospital. He prayed for Little Master's early recovery and said he was one of his ardent fans.

The chief minister announced a Rs 1 million financial assistance for him. He directed Secretary Health Ahmed Bux Narejo to provide him best health facilities in the hospital.

"He is an asset of the country and he must be honoured accordingly," he said. The chief minister was accompanied by MPA Manzoor Hussain Wassan.

NEW SECRETARIT VISIT

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah reached his office yesterday at 9am. Additional Chief Secretary (Dev) Mohammad Waseem and Secretary (GA) Sajid Jamaal Abro received him.

The chief secretary, Siddique and secretary services Usman Chachar, who were in the Supreme Court in connection with a case, joined him later.

At New Secretariat, Wassan called on Sindh Chief minister and discussed issues of mutual interest. Senator Rehman Malik also called on Sindh Chief Minister at the CM Secretariat.

The chief minister directed his Principal Secretary Alamuddin Bullo to slash his motorcade protocol by half. "I don't believe in unnecessary protocol and pomp and show - this huge cavalcade of protocol causes problems in the smooth flow of traffic," he said.

The principal secretary told the chief minister that nine vehicles/police mobiles usually move with the chief minister. To this, the chief minister directed him to reduce the number of vehicles by four. The order was implemented forthwith.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has created a 'Cabinet' group on WhatsApp. All the ministers, advisors and special assistants have been added to this group.

The chief minister himself is administrator of the group. The chief minister has directed all the cabinet members to keep him informed about their activities and issues via WhatsApp.

The ministers have also started sending him the photos of their visits, meetings and such other activities through WhatsApp. -Business Recorder
